She just did not want to take of that ball gown. We got extra shots … she was just too perfect in it!

Next time we use something like that LAST Rolling on the floor laughing Took use over 30 min to get her changed into her next outfit.

Got her in some great shots, even some pouty ones!!!! It was GREAT.

Our day was amazing. Hike to sight where we took the pictures, small picnic, then the pictures. Packed up and then head home … with 1/2 the day still to enjoy & relax. (or in my case, edit pics Camera)

Happy Halloween

, , , , , ,

It has been a few years since I decorated for any holidays. This years I decided, late in the year, to start. So, out when my Halloween baby & granddaughter to decorate for Halloween. My son has been waiting for a week to do this. I told him, he has to wait til Sunday … LOL. Our little witch was so ready she hopped right in & out they went. Our yard looks great. But they are still working on it. But here are some pictures of what they have done so far.

The Changes You Never Expected …

, , , , , , ,

10 years ago I would never have expect our lives to turn in the way they have. 15 yrs ago I won’t have expected it.
5 yrs ago … the events that occurred in the few years just prior showed my family that no matter how hard we tried, things happen and we have to learn to deal with them. Learn to accept them. Oh, we can try to run or hide from them … but that didn’t do any good for the one who tried. It just made adjusting even harder. Which made it a bit harder for our family as well.
You see in a family when something happens to one person it does effect the others who love & care for them. It effects the immediate family, as well as the extended family. What one person does can keep a family together or help destroy it. It takes so much love, consideration, understanding, compassion … and flat out patience when you are dealing with a person in your family who would rather run from the problems than face them. Because you have to try to be there for them, but also for the individuals they are hurting by these actions.  And when that person tries to come back, you have to be there for those who want to accept them, but still have that anger in them. You have to be there for the person who wants their family back, but occasionally does the “1 step forward, and 2 steps back.”
But you see dealing with the person who is afraid to get hurt isn’t the only change we have had to adjust to in our lives over the last 5 or so years. We have lost family (that pain is still there), we have gained family (precious and so welcomed), we are expecting two precious additions to our family (immediate & extended) … Loss & gained. That is pretty much what it all comes down to. Yes we have gained quite a  bit, but we have lost is still there and it still hurts those who don’t know how to deal with it. Or those who just don’t understand …

In the matter of a few days or maybe a few weeks, we will be accepting into our home the our grand daughter. Who has actually help heal some relationship tensions between sibling, and extended family. Yes, my heart goes down a bit when I consider the fact that my daughter is 17 and going to give birth before she hits 18 or even 25 (good time to start THINKING about kids). But my heart jumps when I know I will be able to sit on my living room floor and play with Athenah Rea. This may not be possible when my children bring over other grand children (way off in the future).
That brings us from gain to loss. To be honest, it appears to be the root of all the issues that occur in our house. It does show the love that each person has, but it’s the fear that is tearing them apart instead of bringing them closer. The fear of loosing someone they think they have to have here no matter what. The fear of not know if they will have a few days or a few years. The fear of being hurt because of that loss.
The problem comes down to how to get them all to find a way to cope with it. When you have tried everything  you can, it comes down to involving others who might be able to help you, while you help them. Letting them know that you love them more than they could imagine, and that you are doing what you have to, just so you can be there for them. (Something that they might not realize or understand.) Sometimes it just simply helps when you bring in someone with a fresh mind, a person who can get an outside look at each person and find a way to help them.

In 10 years or 15 years I never expected that my family would fallow a path that would lead us to where we are now. But because life loves to through in those lovely, interesting, little surprises. And the choices we make each time those events happen in our lives, effect how we will be in a few years down the road.
To be honest, life has given us so damn interesting occurrences, events or what ever  you want to call them … I am thinking it needs to go spice up someone else life for a while.

Happy 4th of July

By MeMa
For the 4th this yr. we decided not to do much. Last yr. we went to my husband’s cousins … (check that) my husband, 2 grandkids & I went out of town. My youngest two sons were in 7th heaven livin’ it up as bachelor’s for a few days.
My Grandkids enjoyed it so much. They got spoiled by all the adults there, and they loved it so much!!!

This yr. we bummed around our home for a bit. Doing next to nothing … hey, sometimes you just have to enjoy the holidays without all the stress and drama of rushing to do this or that to make it so perfect! Otherwise you might just find yourself having a heart attack planning one of these “amazing events.”
We asked who was going to watch the fireworks with us, only Nina (who was a little Miss Firecracker herself) was going.
So, one of our sons gave us a hand getting the van loaded up … chairs, small ice chest & cleaned up. Then off my husband, Nina & I went (Ayden was at his other grandparents this yr.) to Lawton’s Freedom Festival. Hosted by the the Lawton Police Department … have to give them credit, the Fireworks were amazing. But the items set up were few & far between. Sad smile

Well, here are our the pics from the our fun … not a lot this year.

Fairy 4-Post Bed ~ Directions

, , , , , , , ,

By MeMa

I got part of this idea from Fairy Gardening 101 written by Fiona McDonald. But instead of using the wires I glued the bed together w/ my hot glue gun. I did attempt to use wires, but it got frustrating extremely fast. So, I switched to glue. Hope my directions are ok to follow … but if not, hope the pictures help out Embarrassed smile

Items Needed:
Twigs (not thin; I had my husband leave branches when he was trimming the trees so)
Fabric (your choice for canopy)
Felt (for mattress & pillow)
Hand Pruner
Hot glue gun w/ glue sticks

Cut 4 long twigs for legs of bed, all the same size. Cut 2 long twigs for the side of the bed, & 4 short pieces for the cross pieces (for width of bed). Make sure to have some extra twigs so you can cut for the bedding area (about the same size of the last 4 pieces you cut for the width.)

Take 2 of the legs & glue 1 of the width twigs to the height you prefer. (Shown is 1st attempt with wire & then where it’s glued)

Take the 2 long pieces (side of bed) & glue them to the legs of the bed. Once that has set, then glue them to the other legs of the bed. (Some of the pics aren’t too great, but I do hope they help a bit.)

Again, once the glue has set, you should have a bed frame. Glue the last 2 short pieces to the top of the bed, for the canopy. (I just use those to instead of adding more, because the fabric only need to be glued in two places to drape like a canopy should)
Then glue pieces across the bedding area, as shown in the pics above. These are short pieces, the same size as the width twigs, you choose the amount you want to place.

Cut your felt about the size of the bedding area, I cut ours just a little less than that size. Then glue it to your bedding area at the head & footing of the bed. Then (using a different color) cut a small square for the pillow. (I folded that piece in 1/2 & glued it, making it appear thicker. But you can also create your own tiny pillow, if you choose to.)
Take your fabric for the canopy & drape over the canopy frame. Cut to the size you choose & glue on the small twigs.

Once you have completed this, you can deco the bed as you choose. Things like flowers up the siding of the bed. You can use moss for the pillow, or even as the mattress instead of the felt. Ribbons up the sides for a more feminine look, or even lace.

Fairy Garden … 1st Attempt

By MeMa

Today we are going to create our items for our 1st attempts at creating several Fairy Gardens.

Yes, I said “several” we are going to use these gardens to teach out granddaughter how to garden. We are going to grow veggies instead of typical plants you see in Fairy Gardens. Of course there is a reason … to teach her how to grow food for herself.

Pictures & Directions to follow! Wish us luck … she is 4, her brother is visiting (he is just under 2) … so we will need lots of it!!!

Baking & Baked

Honey Nut Filling:

Mix 1/2 cup chopped nuts, 1/3 cup margarine or butter (soften) & 1/4 cup honey.

Prep Without Bread Machine:

Uses Ingredients above BUT these two are the exception:

3 to 3 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour (I used Bread Flour, and it came out good)

1 package Regular/Quick Active Dry Yeast

Mix 1 cup flour, granulated sugar, salt, yeast in large bowl. Heat 2 tbsp. margarine, water & sour scream over medium heat, stirring frequently, until very warm (120F to 130F); stir into flour mixture. Stir in egg. Stir in remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

Now when I decided to do this, I thought it would be easy. Well it was, but it was a bit messy.

I got more than 6 parts from the dough, as you can see. That was exactly what I typed above. I, also, cut mine in 1/2, as it appears in the pictures above.

The coffee bread came out ok. And you can even dip it in syrup, for the morning , and it taste good. My grand daughter enjoys it & so do I. I have even left some for my parents in their freezer, hope they enjoy it.

The best part, my grand daughter work up & heaped me kneed the dough! That was just too cute ….

Bread Machine:
3 cups All-Purpose Flour (I used Bread Flour, and it came out good)
2 TBSP Granulated Sugar (you can use Splenda, or something like that)
1 TSP Salt
2 TSP Regular/Quick Active Dry Yeast
2 TBSP Margarine or Butter, soften
1/4 cup Water
1 cup Sour Cream
1 Egg

Honey Nut Filling:
1/4 cup Margarine or Butter, melted
1/3 cup packed Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Honey
1/2 cup mixed chopped nuts (optional)

Measure carefully, placing all ingredients (except Honey Nut Filling) in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select  Dough/Manual cycle.Do not use delay cycles. Remove dough from pan.

Preparing Dough

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; gently roll in flour to coat. Knead about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up. Cover & let rise in warm place about 1 hrs.; cover or until double. (if you are using quick active yeast, do not let rise 1 hr.; cover and let the rest on floured surface 10 min.)

Prep Dough

Honey Nut Filing: Mix 1/4 Margarine, the brown sugar, and honey in a ungreased rectangular, 13x9x3 inches; spread evenly in pan. Pat or roll dough into a 24×9-inches. (When Bread is ready) Spread Filling crosswise over 1/2 of .the rectangle to within 1/4 inch of the edges of dough; fold dough crosswise in 1/2 over filling; seal edges. Cut rectangle crosswise into six 2 inch strips. Twist each strip lot loosely; place strips crosswise in pan. Cover & let rise in warm place about 1 hr. or until doubled.

Family Day

, , ,

Today we had Family Day with Max’s (my soon be son-laws) family. It was good. But I wasn’t too happy because it just didn’t seem to go the way I wanted it.
Today we had chicken, catfish, and sausages. With tossed salad, potato salad, & some chips. Next time I add more to the meat/poultry part. I believe there was not on items left in that part. We have a little bit of tossed salad left & 1/2 a container of potato salad.
We played UNO tonight, but no one really got into the game … which made it seem really freaking lame & boring. It was UNO Attack, which was good. Yet no one seem to be able to get into the gaming mood with it. There were no plots to give others Draw 2’s, or Skipping or Reverse wars. It was complete and totally LAME. UNO, no matter which type, it FUN to play. No teasing or anything … I felt like a complete lame hostess. Which it did seem like I was, it’s just hard for me to do that. UNO is a great game & blasted we will have a blast with it later or next time (maybe, I hope!!).

Next weekend is Mother’s Day Pot-Luck BBQ. It’s gonna be great … or so I hope. We are gonna deal with the meats & a few side dishes. Now I am sure what we are making. Have to figure out what others are bring before I make out dishes.
I am not sure if we will try to kick back and play some blasted board game or card game. But I just hope it will turn out better than the Family Day Pot-Luck BBQ. Fingers, toes, arms & legs all crossed …
